1. Who we are

Knok ("we", "us", "our") is a live chat widget service for websites, operated by FightKit Ltd. Our website is knok.chat. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@knok.chat.

2. What data we collect

Data you give us directly — when you sign up for Knok, request access, or contact us, we collect your name, email address, and any information you choose to share.

Data collected through the widget — when a visitor starts a chat on a website using Knok, we collect the messages they send, their IP address, browser type, and the URL of the page they were on. We do not collect any data from website visitors unless they initiate a chat.

Usage data — we collect standard server logs including pages visited, features used, and error reports to help us improve the service.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Knok service
• Send you service-related emails (account setup, billing, security notices)
• Respond to your support requests
• Improve and debug the product
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

• Contract — processing necessary to provide the service you signed up for
• Legitimate interests — improving the product, preventing abuse, and keeping the service secure
• Consent — where you have explicitly opted in (e.g. marketing emails)

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers in the European Union (Hetzner Cloud, Germany). We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Conversation data is retained for 12 months by default. You can request deletion at any time by contacting hello@knok.chat. We will delete your data within 30 days of a verified request.

7. Third-party services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate Knok:

• Stripe — for payment processing. Stripe handles all card data and is PCI-DSS compliant. We never store card details.
• Sentry — for error monitoring. Errors may include request metadata but we configure Sentry to minimise personal data in error reports.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

9. Cookies

Knok uses a small number of essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The Knok widget places a session cookie on visitor browsers solely to maintain chat continuity.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify active users of material changes by email. Continued use of Knok after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
